You can order a custom garment from VIP Custom Tailor without visiting Chiang Mai. Send your measurements with standing photographs from the front, back and both sides, or send the flat measurements of a garment that already fits you well. The finished pieces are then shipped to you. A well-fitting reference garment is the single most reliable brief you can give a tailor remotely.
The most useful thing you can send is not your body measurements. It is the flat measurements of a jacket or shirt you already own and genuinely like the fit of.
A garment that works is a solved problem. It already encodes your shoulder slope, your preferred amount of room through the chest, the sleeve length you find comfortable, and how long you like a jacket to sit. Copying and improving on that is far more reliable than building from scratch off numbers taken across a video call.
Lay the garment flat and measure: chest across the front at the armhole, doubled; shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back; sleeve from the shoulder seam to the cuff; and length from the base of the collar to the hem.
Take the full set of body measurements from the measurement guide, ideally with someone helping you.
Then take four photographs: front, back, left side and right side. Stand naturally against a plain wall in close-fitting clothing, arms relaxed at your sides, looking straight ahead. Do not pose, do not pull your shoulders back, do not hold your stomach in. A photograph of you standing the way you actually stand is worth more than one of you standing the way you would like to.
Those photographs are how a tailor reads posture. Forward head, rounded upper back, one shoulder lower, arms hanging forward of the body, all of it changes the pattern and none of it appears on a measurement chart.
The occasion and climate the garment is for. A suit for an air-conditioned office in Singapore and one for a London winter are different garments.
How you like things to fit. “Room to move” and “close through the waist” are useful, and much clearer than a size.
Any fit problem you have with off-the-rack clothing. If jacket sleeves are always too long, or shirts always gape at the collar, say so. Those complaints are diagnostic.
Cloth is the one genuine disadvantage of ordering remotely, because you cannot handle it.
We will send photographs and describe weight, weave and handle in plain terms, and we will tell you honestly when a cloth photographs differently from how it looks in the room. Where possible, swatches can be posted before you commit, which adds time but removes the biggest unknown.
Once a garment has been made and you have worn it, your pattern is on file along with any corrections. Repeat orders become straightforward: pick cloth, confirm details, and the fit is already solved.
Most remote customers order once cautiously and then order properly.
Send your measurements through the form on the measurements page. It walks you through each one with a diagram. Not sure yet what you want, or have a garment that fits well? Tell us first and we will reply by email or WhatsApp.

The order form takes a few minutes. You pick the garment, the quality, the style and the fabric, with photos of every cloth we stock. A fashion specialist then confirms every detail with you before any bill is sent.

Yes. Remote orders are taken from your measurements plus standing photographs, or from the flat measurements of a garment that already fits you. The finished garment is shipped internationally.
Accurate enough to be worth doing, and less precise than being measured in person, which is the honest answer. The main risk is posture, since a tape measure records size but not stance. Photographs and a reference garment close most of that gap.
Minor adjustments can normally be handled by a local tailor wherever you are, which is faster and cheaper than shipping a garment back and forth. Discuss anything significant before arranging a return.
The garment costs the same. You add shipping, and you remove the flights, so for most people ordering from abroad the total is lower. What you give up is the fitting.
